Pay Fiat to Any Bank Account with RLUSD, Straight from Your Wallet

Published on

RLUSD holders can now make direct fiat payments to third parties through TrustLinq: stablecoins stay in your own self-custodial wallet, and the person or business you pay receives an ordinary bank transfer in their local currency, across 190+ countries and 80+ currencies. The capability expands TrustLinq’s partnership with Ripple and is live today for all verified clients, with no integration required. Here is what launched, why it matters for RLUSD specifically, and how a payment works step by step.

What Just Launched

TrustLinq has expanded its partnership with Ripple by enabling third-party fiat payments funded from RLUSD, the US dollar stablecoin issued by Ripple under a New York Department of Financial Services trust charter. The expansion builds on the existing collaboration under which Ripple Payments powers TrustLinq’s global fiat settlement, and it slots RLUSD in alongside USDT (ERC-20 and TRC-20), USDC and EURC as a funding asset for every payment type the platform supports.

In practice: if you hold RLUSD on ERC-20, every bank account on earth just became payable from your wallet.

What Is RLUSD, in One Paragraph

RLUSD is Ripple’s US dollar stablecoin, issued under a New York Department of Financial Services trust charter and built for enterprise-grade payments and institutional use: fully backed, redeemable, and regulated at issuance. What it shared with every other stablecoin until now was the last-mile problem: holding regulated digital dollars is easy, paying a supplier’s bank account with them was not. This launch is that last mile.

The Gap This Closes

Stablecoin rails move roughly $35 trillion a year, yet analysis by McKinsey and Artemis Analytics found only about $390 billion of it, around one percent, reaches the real economy as actual payments: invoices, payroll, rent, remittances. The rest circulates between exchanges, protocols and wallets.

The missing piece was never demand. It was the route: to pay anyone, holders had to sell on an exchange, withdraw to a bank account in their own name, and transfer onward, surrendering custody, waiting days, and feeding their bank a growing log of crypto-origin inflows. Crypto-funded fiat settlement replaces that detour with one step, and RLUSD holders now have it: crypto in, fiat out.

How an RLUSD Payment Works

  1. Register as an individual or a business.
  2. Connect your wallet. Your RLUSD stays in self-custody, linked to a dedicated smart-contract vault only you control.
  3. Enter the recipient’s bank details and the amount. TrustLinq converts exactly what the payment needs and delivers a standard bank transfer in the recipient’s currency, over SEPA, Faster Payments, ACH, local corridors or SWIFT.

Most transfers arrive the same or next business day, and the recipient needs nothing but the bank account they already have: no wallet, no conversion, no awareness that crypto was involved. A few examples of what that looks like:

You pay Funded with They receive
A supplier invoice in Vietnam RLUSD from your wallet VND, local rails
A salary in Germany RLUSD from your wallet EUR, SEPA
Rent in Dubai RLUSD from your wallet AED
A contractor in the UK RLUSD from your wallet GBP, Faster Payments

Full coverage by destination and currency is on the supported countries and currencies page, and pricing is published in full on the pricing page.

Why This Fits RLUSD Especially Well

Every payment through TrustLinq is executed by a Swiss-regulated financial intermediary, supervised by SO-FIT, a FINMA-recognised self-regulatory organisation, which gives recipient banks a regulated Swiss counterparty on every transfer. Pair that with a stablecoin issued under a New York trust charter and the result is a payment that is regulated at both ends: regulated money in, regulated settlement out. For businesses running supplier payments or payroll from a stablecoin treasury, and for individuals paying rent or fees from on-chain savings, that end-to-end regulatory chain is precisely what makes transfers land cleanly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I send RLUSD to a bank account?

Directly to anyone’s bank account, yes: TrustLinq converts RLUSD from your self-custodial wallet and delivers an ordinary fiat transfer in the recipient’s currency, across 190+ countries. Your RLUSD funds the payment; the recipient receives money, not crypto.

Which network does TrustLinq support for RLUSD?

RLUSD on Ethereum (ERC-20). Holders on other networks bridge to ERC-20 in their own wallet first, then pay as normal.

What is RLUSD?

Ripple’s US dollar stablecoin, issued under a New York Department of Financial Services trust charter: fully backed, redeemable at face value, and designed for enterprise-grade payments. Through TrustLinq it now funds direct bank transfers worldwide.

Does the recipient need to do anything?

Nothing. They receive a standard bank transfer in their own currency from a Swiss-regulated payment institution, with nothing to install, accept or understand, and no exposure to crypto at any point.

How fast do RLUSD-funded payments arrive?

Typically within a few hours to 24 hours depending on the corridor; SEPA and Faster Payments usually settle the same day.

Is RLUSD better than USDC or USDT for payments?

TrustLinq supports all of them equally: USDT (ERC-20 and TRC-20), USDC, EURC and RLUSD, so the right funding asset is whichever you already hold. RLUSD’s distinction is its NYDFS trust-charter issuance, which some businesses and institutions prefer for treasury policy reasons.
